About the Sun Prairie Band Boosters Lesson Academy
The Sun Prairie Band Booster Lesson Academy has been created to provide convenient access to quality private instrument instruction for students in the Sun Prairie Band Program. The program is designed to give students access to one-on-one instruction on their instrument with professional musicians/teachers that specialize on specific instruments. Students will focus on fundamental skills that are particular to his or her instrument. Instructors provide individualized assignments and instruction specific to the student’s particular abilities. The benefits of private instrument instruction include; accelerated study of instrument technique and repertoire, preparation of audition materials, or study of subjects of particular interested (e.g. solo literature or improvisation). Private study is a powerful tool in supporting musical growth in students. This program is organized by the Sun Prairie Band Boosters as a service to band students in Sun Prairie Schools. The Sun Prairie Band Booster Lesson Academy is designed to serve those students not currently studying privately. It is not designed to take students away from local teachers not in the Sun Prairie Band Booster Lesson Academy and should not be interpreted as a signal to change teachers. Program Guidelines:
Students must be a participating member of the Sun Prairie Band Program (enrolled in a band class). Lessons will be held on all teacher workdays and student holidays unless instructors and students mutually decide in advance that lessons will not be held on those days (the exception being lessons will not be held during Thanksgiving break, winter break or spring break). In the event of a school cancelation (inclement weather, etc.) all after school lessons are also canceled on the date of a school cancelation. Lessons are split into two semesters. Families will do the actual scheduling of lesson times in communication with each private teacher. Please register for the program using the registration box to the left. Lesson Tuition and Payment: Due to program organization and financial regulations, parents/students are not allowed to pay private teachers directly in this program. All payments must be made to Sun Prairie Band Boosters via PayPal. Families will be sent a monthly invoice on the 15th of each month, due within 7 days to pre-pay for the next month of lessons. The lesson fee for each teacher is listed at the link above and the registration box on the left of the this page. The tuition fee for each semester includes the cost of 12 or 14 lessons and can be paid in one payment at the beginning of the semester or you may pay for lessons monthly (you will be invoiced for the number of lessons each month). Semester 1 runs October 3 - January 16 Semester 2 runs January 22 - April 30 Families are asked to commit to a semester of lessons when registering. No refund can be made for missed lessons. Thirty day written notice is required for withdrawal from program. Without these policies it is impossible to secure quality private teachers for our students.
Possible solutions for a conflict with a lesson time 1. Swap lesson times with another student 2. Schedule an extended lesson (two lessons in one) the last lesson of the evening 3. Send a recording of your progress to your teacher and they can provide written feedback for you during your lesson time. What students and parents can expect in private lessons 1. A curriculum of instruction encompassing the unique needs of individual instruments and students 2. Students should prepare for lessons with consistent practice 3. Students may need supplemental method books or solo materials for private study 4. Private teachers will communicate with families in the event of an emergency that requires rescheduling lessons 5. Please communicate with private teachers in the event of illness or emergency (please communicate with lesson teacher 24 hours in advance) Participants in the Sun Prairie Band Booster Lesson Academy agree to hold harmless and indemnify the Sun Prairie Band Boosters and Sun Prairie Area School District from all claims, demands, causes of action, judgments and liabilities of whatever kind arising out of or in connection with or concerning this agreement or by and between Licensee and District. |
