SOSP Volunteer Connection
|
The SOSP Volunteer Connection is your source for volunteering information for the Sound of Sun Prairie. Whether it's sewing, building, cooking, driving, or just about anything else you might be interested in, we've got a chance for you to be part of the Sound of Sun Prairie. The sections below will tell you a little about what you might be doing for each opportunity, and in most cases, access to spreadsheets that will give you a snapshot of our current needs. You will also find contact information for the heads of each area. So, pull out your calendars and find a time where you can be part of the Sound experience!

Chuckwagon
The chuckwagon crew is at the very core of the Sound of Sun Prairie - they provide the meals! We believe that proper nutrition will give our members the strength they will need to succeed. A majority of our meals are prepared and provided to our members on-sight. Meals generally include fruits, vegetables, dairy, juices, meat, hot/cold entree's, and of course some type of dessert. As with all of our volunteer opportunities, you don't have to work every shift if you express an interest. You can pick and choose when it fits into your schedule to help.
Here's a brief list of the chuckwagon duties:
A number of chuckwagon opportunities are still needed to be filled.

Sewing
During the Spring our sewing crew is busy sewing flags, uniforms and anything else that needs to be sewn. The sewing crew is busy every time our members rehearse on Saturday's and Sunday's in the Spring until everything is done. If you are interested in helping with sewing, contact [email protected] (no sewing experience is necessary).

Maintenance
There are a number of maintenance projects that invariably come up every year. From fixing the uniform cart or the chuckwagon trailer, to building the props for this year's show, if you're handy (or even if you can simply put some paint on something) send an email to [email protected].

Uniform
Uniforms are fitted for each wind/percussion member of the band. It's important to make sure each member has a properly fitted uniform, pair of gloves, snug shako, black socks and laced shoes. There is also organization and ironing to keep the uniforms in order and tip top shape. Once Marching season starts, most of the hard work is complete, then the rest of the season is maintaining of the uniforms, keeping them clean, making sure buttons are snapped and shoes are laced.
