Information about our Lesson Curriculum

Lessons are an essential part of the Sun Prairie Band Program and provides students with a curriculum that is entirely unique from the large ensemble. During lessons, students work on the specific skills that they will need to be successful on their specific instrument in a small-group setting. To accomplish this, students work out of a lesson packet that is specially designed to guide them through their method book at a pace that is best suited to meet their individual needs. This allows for differentiated instruction that is tailored to each individual.

Students at Prairie View are scheduled for one lesson each week that takes place during the regular school day. Lesson are scheduled on a rotating basis, ensuring that no student is scheduled for a lesson during the same class period for at least four weeks.

The lesson schedule is always posted in the music area and will be sent home via email each week. Please check your student's lesson time and encourage him/her to write it down in his/her assignment notebook. If you have any questions or concerns about your student's lesson schedule, please contact Mr. Quaglieri.

7th Grade Lessons

Lessons are an essential part of the Sun Prairie Band Program and provides students with a curriculum that is entirely unique from the large ensemble. During lessons, students work on the specific skills that they will need to be successful on their specific instrument in a small-group setting.

Unlike 6th grade, lessons for students in 7th grade take place during their study hall or band periods only. Students lesson schedule rotates based on their study hall period each week, generally between Monday/Tuesday and Thursday/Friday. This allows students to maintain a relatively stable schedule.

If you or your student has a question about his/her lesson schedule, please contact Mrs. Gleason. Students are also encouraged to check Google Drive for their lesson schedule and to communicate any conflicts and concerns ASAP.
