About Band at Prairie View
Prairie View Middle School currently has three 6th grade bands, two 7th grade bands, and one 8th grade band that meets for 38 minutes per day. Students also receive small group instruction once a week through the Band Lesson Program. At Prairie View, we strive to provide students with a comprehensive musical foundation on their instrument; one that will pave the way to a successful and well-rounded future as a Sun Prairie Band Member. (we also have a great deal of FUN doing so!) Sun Prairie has a long standing rich tradition of excellent bands.
6th and 7th graders at Prairie View Middle School work toward 2-3 performances during the school year, while 8th graders work toward 4-5 performances. These performances include the district-wide Band-O-Rama concert. Additionally, students also have the option to participate in several additional performances including Sun Prairie Middle Level Honor Band, a tour of our feeder elementary schools, a middle school band festival at UW Whitewater, Tuba Christmas, WSMA Solo & Ensemble, and the High School Epoch Sound (pep-band) Night. Students are eligible to audition for the State Middle Level Honors Band, as well as other performing experiences. |
