PATRICK MARSH BAND NEWS:
Welcome Allison Wilmes!
Alli Wilmes is a recent Music Education graduate from UW-Eau Claire, originally from Stillwater, Minnesota. She was the principal percussionist in the UWEC Wind Symphony, where she was the spring 2016 recipient of the Donald George Outstanding Musician Award. Alli also played vibraphone in Jazz Ensemble I and II, played bass drum for four years in the Blugold Marching Band, and played in many percussion ensembles in her time at UWEC. In the summer of 2015, Alli played vibraphone with the Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle corps, and played marimba in 2016 for Minnesota Brass Drum and Bugle Corps. She also taught the Menomonie High School Front Ensemble for four seasons.
Alli has just completed her student teaching placement at Cumberland Middle/High School, where she worked with all four bands daily for the entire fall 2016 semester. During her time at UWEC, she was the percussion section coach for the Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony, and was the student conductor for the UWEC University band for the spring 2016 semester. She was the percussion instructor for the Stillwater Area School District 5th grade beginning band camp in August 2016. She was also a camp counselor at the Shell Lake Arts Center for two summers (2013-2014).
Alli is looking forward to working with all of the students at Patrick Marsh, and to begin her post-graduation career. Her plan after completing the internship in Sun Prairie is to move back to the Twin Cities and begin her individual teaching career-ideally with middle school students!
